High School of Business 2026 Summer Training: Pedagogy & Principles of Business

High School of Business (HSB) launched its summer professional development series in Denver, CO, on June 16–17 with Pedagogy training. Thirteen educators participated in the session, focusing on project-based learning strategies and effective integration within the High School of Business curriculum. During the training, participants established a professional learning cohort to foster collaboration, resource sharing, and ongoing networking throughout the school year.

During Pedagogy training, teachers listened to presentations from two business speakers who shared their experiences from their respective industries.

Judd from Ted’s Montana Grill discussed the ownership of the restaurant by Tedd Turner and George McKerrow. He offered the teachers an experience by bringing menus and the Wiki Sticks they provide for children who dine at their establishment—he also delivered peanut butter cookies for the teachers to sample.

Judd explained that the names on the menus are from ranches and how bison is a great alternative for healthy eating. They purchase locally sourced produce to ensure the quality of the meals. Working in the service industry offers opportunities to grow within the organization. He told a story of an employee who started as a server and is now the general manager of her location.

After training ended for the day, about half of the teachers went to Ted’s for dinner, where Judd greeted the guests, completing the experience he had started earlier. And the food was amazing—prompting one teacher to return three more times before returning home!

Sanjay Tyagi specializes in cost-reduction services for business owners and CFOs at Schooley Mitchell, helping businesses lower their operating expenses. His services are provided at no upfront cost; he only receives payment if he successfully saves the business money on specific expenses. His fee is determined by the amount of money the business saves. For nearly 30 years, Schooley Mitchell has averaged a 28% cost reduction.

During his discussions, Sanjay highlights common challenges businesses face and explains how he can help decrease costs. He emphasizes that his compensation is entirely tied to the organization’s savings.

On June 18–19, Principles of Business Training began with 17 educators in attendance. The training provides a comprehensive breakdown of each project, equipping teachers with the knowledge, resources, and confidence needed to successfully implement the curriculum when they return to their classrooms in the fall.
