Bringing World of Business to Life: MBA Research Connects with Pilot Classrooms Nationwide

In the fall of 2025, MBA Research and Curriculum Center began a series of site visits as part of its continued support for the pilot implementation of its new course, World of Business. Tammy Cyrus, Vice President of Professional Learning, and Janet Brophy, Program Director of High School of Business™, visited four high schools piloting the course. Their goal was to observe classroom instruction, engage with educators and students, and gather valuable feedback on the course’s initial rollout.

The site visits began at El Segundo High School in El Segundo, California, where they visited Bonnie Maye’s classroom. The next stop was Monta Vista High School in Cupertino, California, hosted by teacher Lenore Espanola. The team then traveled to Tongue River High School in Dayton, Wyoming, to meet with Shawna Michelena’s class, and concluded their visits at Prairie View High School in Henderson, Colorado, where they spent time with Jean Schneider and her students.

These site visits offered valuable opportunities to connect directly with classroom teachers, students, and school administrators. Teachers shared insights into their experiences implementing World of Business, while students highlighted what they found most engaging about the course—particularly the emphasis on real-world applications and current events, which they felt made the content more relevant and meaningful to their lives. Students liked the flexible course structure, which incorporates project-based learning, gamification, and relevant discussions, and felt it provided an opportunity for more interaction and participation.

These site visits represent a key step in MBA Research’s commitment to ongoing evaluation and improvement of the World of Business course. As pilot implementation continues through the fall semester, the organization will maintain active communication with participating schools to collect feedback and assess course effectiveness. Insights gained during this process will inform revisions and help prepare for a second phase of pilot training, scheduled to launch in spring 2026.

MBA Research remains dedicated to delivering a high-quality, real-world curriculum that empowers students with the knowledge and skills necessary for success in business and beyond. We are grateful to the educators and administrators participating in the pilot for their leadership and commitment to innovation in business education. Together, we are shaping a course that empowers students with the tools they need to succeed in today’s dynamic business environment.
