Maryland 2019 Business Management and Finance (BMF) Summer Conference

July 23-24, 2019
Hunt Valley/North Baltimore, MD

The Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE), in partnership with MBA Research and Curriculum Center, is offering professional development for Maryland BMF program instructors. The conference includes on-site training; course-specific content, materials and supplies; and meals during the event. This specialized workshop is for Maryland secondary business, management, and finance instructors.

The focus of the BMF Summer Institute will be:

  • Strategies for using newly developed Maryland BMF curricula, including Principles of Business Management and Entrepreneurship, Principles of Accounting and Finance, and Introduction to Marketing
  • Teaching ideas, activities, lesson plans, and best practices for the classroom
  • Networking with leaders in BMF, including secondary and post-secondary instructors and business professionals

Teaching Ethical Decision Making in Business

East Carolina University

North Carolina is hosting the Daniels Fund Hands-On Workshop: Teaching Ethical Decision Making in Business at East Carolina University on Tuesday, May 21st and at Cabarrus County Schools Education Center on Wednesday, May 22nd. Teachers will Leave this one-day workshop with:

  • Greater understanding of the Daniels Fund and the Eight Ethical Principles
  • Strategies for utilizing learning modules (LAPs) to deliver ethics education
  • Details for accessing content via the online MBA Learning Center
  • An understanding of course guide components and their application
  • Activities and lesson plans to put into practice in the classroom
  • Access to the leadership course guides
  • Access to free revised course guides: 12 to be released through 2020
  • Access to free comprehensive learning modules (LAPs): 70 released through 2018
  • Specific teaching ideas
