Join Daniel Mack and John Williams with the Kansas City Royals as they tell us how the Royals combine data—and gut feelings—to make decisions across all levels of their organization. You won’t want to miss this presentation as they share the good, the bad, and the ugly of sabermetrics in baseball.


John Williams, Director of Baseball Analytics/Player Personnel. John is in his seventh season with the Royals and second as the Director of Baseball Analytics/Player Personnel. Before joining the Royals, Williams worked as a research assistant in the Political Science department at Yale University.

Williams received a master's in atmospheric science at MIT in 2008. Previously, he earned a bachelor's of science in geology & geophysics at Yale University in 2005.

A native of New Haven, CT, he currently resides in Kansas City, MO.

Daniel Mack, Director of Baseball Analytics/Research Science. Dr. Daniel Mack is in his fifth season with the Royals and third with the title of Director of Baseball Analytics/Research Science. Mack works closely with the Baseball Analytics staff to assist with quantitative research and development of analytics in support of all areas of Baseball Operations.

Prior to accepting the job with Kansas City, Mack obtained a doctorate in Computer Science from Vanderbilt University.

A native of Reno, NV, he resides in Kansas City, MO.
