Digital Badges - Level 5 (HSB)

The MBA Research High School of Business™ program is a college-preparatory course of study resulting in the delivery of a breadth of academic and business knowledge that is then used in rigorous business-focused projects. The program consists of 6 required courses and 2 optional courses as well as a business internship. Eight badges are available based on end-of-course assessments. All courses emphasize problem-solving, and academic and critical-thinking skills. An internship badge is also available. Students successfully completing a HSB program are also eligible for a badge. HIGH SCHOOL OF BUSINESS™ DIGITAL BADGES ARE ONLY AVAILABLE FOR THOSE STUDENTS ENROLLED IN A HSB PROGRAM.)

High School of Business: Principles of Business Digital Badge - Level 5

Students earning the HSB Principles of Business badge have demonstrated understanding and skills in areas that include business law, economics, financial analysis, human-resource management, information management, marketing, operations and strategic management.

High School of Business: Principles of Marketing Digital Badge - Level 5

Students earning the HSB Principles of Marketing badge have developed knowledge and skills in functional areas of marketing that include channel management, marketing information management, market planning, pricing, product/service management, promotion, and selling.

High School of Business: Principles of Finance Digital Badge - Level 5

Students earning the HSB Principles of Finance badge have demonstrated knowledge and skills in areas that include accounting, finance, understanding financial statements, corporate investments, calculating financial ratios, corporate financial management, operating and overhead costs, internal accounting controls, cost/benefit analysis and financial planning and decision making.

High School of Business: Principles of Management Digital Badge - Level 5

Students earning the HSB Principles of Management badge will have demonstrated knowledge and skills in areas that include legal and ethical issues associated with management, initiating, planning, implementing, controlling, and closing a project, motivating team members, the importance of delegation of work, developing a chain of command, coordinating work efforts, and interpreting statistical findings.

Students earning the HSB Leadership badge have demonstrated understanding and skills in areas that include communications, business operations, emotional intelligence, and professional development.

Students earning the HSB Business Economics badge have demonstrated knowledge and skills in areas that include consumer spending, government spending, economic conditions, legal issues, global competition, entrepreneurship, operations, current economic conditions and factors that influence businesses.

Students earning the HSB Wealth Management badge have demonstrated understanding and skills in areas that include financial literacy, economic decision making, time value of money, financial management, and the role and responsibility in their financial future.

High School of Business: Business Strategies Digital Badge - Level 5

Students earning the HSB Business Strategies badge will have developed knowledge and skills in areas that include the functions of management, developing a business plan, strategic management, entrepreneurship, conducting situational, market, and competitive analyses, target marketing, recruiting, interviewing and hiring staff, supervising staff, controlling use of resources, and evaluating the result of business effort.

High School of Business: Internship Digital Badge - Level 5

Students earning the HSB Internship badge have successfully completed a business-based internship (minimum of 20 hours) where they observed management-level business functions. Critical thinking skills are then employed in written assignments that connect knowledge learned in the classroom to what was observed in the workplace. Reflective career exploration and an oral presentation to peers complete the experience.

High School of Business: Program Completion Digital Badge - Level 5

Students who successfully earn badges for the 6 required HSB courses will receive the HSB Program Completion Badge, signifying exemplary achievement of knowledge and skills that will enable them to excel in college-level business administration programs.
