High School of Business™ schools featured in ACTE's Techniques Magazine

Students at Findlay High (OH) fill a bus with donated items as part of their Leadership course's service-learning project.
Service-learning is the subject of this month's issue of Techniques. Service-learning is also the focus of the High School of Business™Leadership course. High School of Business™students at Renaissance High in Detroit chose to serve a domestic abuse program in the community. What they didn't expect were the benefits they reaped in return. Students in the same course at Centennial High in Franklin, Tennessee, made a major impact right on their own campus in response to a student's serious injury. Both schools exemplify what service-learning does best: engages students in real, meaningful projects that require them to think deeply and often result in rewards that go way beyond the classroom. During our spring break, I received a text message from a student that said: I am eating lunch at a Piggyback Franchise!
When we returned last Monday from break, the student said, "Ms. Gallimore, I hated the fact that I even knew what a Piggyback Franchise was! I was on break!"
