MarkED is funded through a variety of sources, including membership fees (43 state education departments), sales to schools and various education and training programs, and through  project grants for specific research initiatives. 

MarkED is a co-sponsor with DECA and various state education departments for the industry-based Institute for Assessment of Skills and Knowledge of Business (A*S*K Institute).
